Notes for applicants of adults' grading
  • Applicants must be Aikido Shinju-Kai members for at least 3 months without outstanding membership fees.
  • Applicants must ensure they have fulfilled all pre-requisites at the time of submission.
  • Application must be accompanied by: proof of training session and time period; membership book (current membership must be paid); grading fees.
  • Applications must be submitted two weeks before Grading. There will be an additional administrative charge for late submissions.
  • Applicants' participation in endorsed training seminars, camps or events will be taken into consideration for approval.
  • All applicants aged 5–12 (by year) are to register for Children's Grading; applicants aged 13 and above are to register for Adults' Grading.
  • Candidates awarded intermediate grades during their previous Adult's Grading can submit directly for the next Adult's Grading.
  • Candidates going for 1st Kyu and above are to refer to Uke Selection Guidelines on the website.
  • Candidates going for 2nd Kyu and above must ensure weapon assessment requirements are fulfilled before grading.
  • Candidates going for Yudansha grading must ensure additional scoring requirements are fulfilled.

Yudansha's Additional Scoring Requirements
  • To obtain a minimum 3 points average per year from any ASK-organised events, self-improvement and enrichment workshops.
  1. Any ASK Headquarters organised Seminar/Events — 1 Point
  2. Any ASK sanctioned International Seminars/Events/Trips — 2.5 Points
  3. Any ASK Headquarters organised Workshops/Courses/Self-improvement programmes — 0.5 Point

*Points will be reset once the grader goes for his/her upgrading.

Required points: 1st Dan — 3 pts · 2nd Dan — 6 pts · 3rd Dan — 9 pts · 4th Dan — 12 pts

Suitable for those who have missed their grading dates and for those who prefer a personalised grading.

Additional fee will apply (Kyu grades: +$80; Dan grades: +$150, GST inclusive).

Maximum of 4 students may be arranged per private grading.

All grades are registered with ASK, while all Yudanshas (Black belt Dan grades) are registered with Aikido World Headquarters (Aikikai Foundation – Tokyo, Japan) and the International Aikido Federation (IAF).
