Established in 1988, Aikido Shinju-Kai is the premier and most active Aikido organisation in South-East Asia.
After 36 years establishment of Aikido Shinju-Kai, finally fulfilled the dream of having our own permanent Headquarters & Shinju Hub at Thomson V One.
After battling COVID-19 and various variant viruses for the past 3 years, Aikido Shinju-Kai remains positive and determined to rebuild its memberships in a slow and steady manner.
COVID-19 Pandemic hit the world. Numerous dojos suffered huge drops in students due to stringent rules and regulations imposed by the Government, and many students chose other alternative forms of exercise.
Aikido Shinju-Kai celebrates its 30th Anniversary with Guest-Of-Honour from Hombu Japan Dojo-Cho, Mitsuteru Ueshiba, and several Shihans together with over 800 participants from 26 countries. A new sub branch dojo of 200m² at Heartbeat@Bedok Hub was officially opened by Dojo-Cho.
After 15 years since first stepping foot to promote Aikido in China, Aikido Shinju-Kai takes another step to have a China-based Headquarters set up in Shanghai. Shidoin Aloyseus Lee was despatched to be stationed there for 3 years to further promote and unify all affiliated dojos.
Started the very first 'Keiko Hajime', a traditional event held annually henceforth, signifying the commencement of the first training class for the year.
Chosen by the Singapore People's Association to be the official representing Aikido group for Singapore in the National Chingay Parade, with Guest-of-Honours Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan. Demonstrated in front of over 180,000 spectators and broadcasted to more than 30 million viewers across Asia.
Commemorating Singapore's 50th Anniversary, Aikido Shinju-Kai organised the SG50 cum 3rd All Aikido Shinju-Kai Demonstration and Seminar held at Toa Payoh Sports Centre.
In a combined effort, the five founding fathers of Aikido in Singapore — Shihan Harry Ng, Shihan George Chang, Shihan Philip Lee, Sensei Freddy Khong and Sensei Seah Ah Hee — came together in organising the SG50 Seminar.
Gifted by Mr. Masaki Tani, Director of the International Affairs Department from the Aikido World Headquarters, Japan — a heritage Katana certified by Japan's fine art Katana Preservation Foundation, a recognition of the growth of Aikido Shinju-Kai and the symbol of Friendship.
Celebrated Aikido Shinju-Kai's 25th Anniversary with 48 dojos locally and 30 dojos in China, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Awarded the 'Promising SME 500 Award' and 'Industry Star Award' by the Small Medium Business Association.
Conducted a Donation Drive raising S$32,270 in a single day for victims of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.
The first organisation to introduce Aikido to pre-school children from as young as 3 years of age through 'AikiForest', the world's first Aikido school for pre-schoolers.
The 1st International Friendship Seminar was inaugurated with allegiance countries from Japan, United Kingdom, Canada, Belgium and Singapore.
Celebrated 20th Anniversary with Shihan Hiroshi Tada (9th Dan) and participants from 17 countries — over 800 participants total.
Organised the first ever Aikido Demonstration at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, officiated by the CEO of Singapore Sports Council and the Ambassador of Japan.
Aikido Shinju-Kai became the sole provider of Aikido programmes to thousands of students in various schools through the SEP.
Moving towards overseas expansion. Aikido Shinju-Kai now holds dojos in Malaysia, China and Indonesia, along with 31 new dojos opened locally.
The first Aikido organisation in Singapore to establish a permanent Headquarters Training Centre at HomeTeamNS – Balestier, officiated by Masuda Seijuro Shihan (8th Dan) from the Aikido World Headquarters, Japan.
Aikido Shinju-Kai received her Official Recognition from Hombu Dojo Aikido World Headquarters, Japan.
A major breakthrough by becoming the first Aikido organisation to introduce Aikido teachings to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Saw the expansion of 8 new dojos across community clubs. Landmark introduction of Aikido training to the Gurkha Contingent, a special unit of the Singapore Police Force.
Philip Lee Shihan focused on building a strong foundation, discipline and culture in the organisation for 8 years before opening a second dojo at ChengSan Community Centre.
Founded by Philip Lee Shihan, started with humble beginnings at SAFRA Tampines. The pioneer batch of Instructors were John Lim, Kelly Tan, Alice Tan and Allan Lai.
